Resumo
The efficiency of the use of cutting fluids in the machining processes is highly questioned by the literature, due to the contribution to the increase of pollutants, more severe environmental legislations with industrial discards, problems related to human health and operational costs. The utilization of a minimum quantity of fluid is an alternative technique to be applied in some machining processes. The use of the minimum cut oil flow in the machined region can minimize roughness and wear of the tool. In this work, three alternatives were studied, without cutting fluid, with fluid in the minimum (150 ml/min) and maximum flow (12 l/min), in end milling of duplex stainless steel UNS S32205, with the following cutting parameters: cutting speed (60 and 70 m/min) , feed per tooth (0.10 mm/tooth), depth of cut (1.00 mm) and cutting width (17.5 mm). The conditions of minimum and maximum flow, for the speed of 60 m/min, presented the longest tool life. The lowest surface roughness values were observed for the cutting speed of 60 m/min; and for VBmáx of 0.3 mm, for the cutting speed of 70 m/min, the roughness was 0.56 µm and cut-off time of 10 min in the maximum flow condition.
