Resumo
The machining forces can be useful as intermediate variables in process models orientated to other variables, such as tool life and surface roughness, which are more desirable in the industry environment. In the reaming process, those forces can be small due to the also small machining cross section. As a consequence, the measuring system properties usually neglected in other process can have significance. In present work, it was performed reaming operations with a high speed steel tool with a 9 mm diameter right hand cut and left hand spiral in a GG25 cast iron piece. The machining forces were acquired with a piezoelectric platform. It was observed a low signal-noise ratio, which motivated an analysis of the measurement system with pieces with known masses, electrical installation noise observation, natural frequencies estimation and an evaluation of the influence of the distance between the center of the platform and center of the reamed hole. That last evaluation showed the most significant measurement error source, because it amplifies the effect of the tool eccentric, creating an apparent signal. Furthermore, it was observed that the combined impact from a low natural frequency system and the electrical installation is significant. Finally, it was concluded that the Torque is more suitable to the used measurement system than the Thrust.
