Resumo

In this work, 3 welding conditions were analyzed in AISI 304 stainless steel plates with an AWS E316LT1-4 tubular wire, using the pulsed arc in a constant voltage (CV) source. The welding energy was varied by 3 speeds welding, with no change in arc stability, concerning defects as spattering. Statistical technique and analysis of experiments (DOE) were used. Firstly, using a fractional factorial design was applied, and in a second phase, these parameters were optimized analyzing their influence on the penetration, hardness, and metallurgical features. Analyzes of the Vickers microhardness profiles did not show, in general, great variations when submitted to different levels of welding energy. However, there were gains related in deposition by welding energy control, mainly if these parameters are resized in welding of position; as well as to the increase of deposition rate, since for the same welding energy works with much larger wire speeds. The coefficient of variation of feed velocity is important in electric arc stability as well as minimization of defects like hot cracks, even if the material has a crackability index 13.93. Nevertheless, it is necessary bevel angle 30º, ensuring full penetration for joining.
