Resumo

Laser materials processing is a research area in ascension, it has been used in advanced manufacturing process and surface treatments. As for surface treatments, it is highlighted the selective hardening, which cause the surface hardness increase of part material, allowing the wear reduction and the increase of component life. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of some parameters of Nd:YAG pulsed laser in relation to the subsurface changes of the sintered high-speed steel sample (HSS/PM). Thus, it was realized the preparing metallographic cross section of sample etched by laser, next characterizations by optical and scanning electron microscopy, mechanical by Vickers microindentation hardness test and physical by X-ray diffraction (XRD) to identify the phases generated. The analysis of the results showed that the laser parameters influenced significantly in the depth of subsurface change, in the same way caused hardness change, probably, due to martensite and carbides detected by XRD.
