In peripheral milling, the machined surface generated by teeth and cutting edges located on the periphery of the body tool, lies generally in a plane parallel the axis of the cutter. The tangential or peripheral milling is usually performed on milling machines with spindle in horizontal position. The cutting width ap is usually substantially greater than the penetration of work ae. The machined surface is generated by the main cutting edge.
